Miss Ruth Henson

Year 2 Class Teacher, Teacher of Latin, Deputy DSL

BA (Joint Hons), PGCE Coleman House

Willington Life - I joined Willington in 2001 as a Year 1 teacher. During my time here I have taught throughout the school and undertaken a number of management roles, including Acting Deputy Head. Now I have come full circle to be back teaching in the Pre-Prep in Year 2, but with a sprinkling of Latin thrown in! I also love leading Sparrows Choir for KS1 and helping to instil the joy of a good old action song!

Languages Spoken - I love to travel so have picked up smatterings of various languages. Having studied Latin and Classical Greek really helps with the acquisition of other languages, but I can’t claim to ‘speak’ those, as I much more read and write them!

First School - I attended Christ Church New Malden Infant and Junior Schools, before moving to Wimbledon High School at 11+. My primary school was both nurturing and inspiring, and the great teachers there were the ones who first made me want to follow in their footsteps as a teacher.

Childhood Memory - I remember going home for lunch from infant school every day and spending the walk home talking non-stop about all the fun things we’d learnt that morning. One day, when I was 6, my mother was running late, so (in the days before security gates and keypads on doors), I decided to start walking home by myself! Happily I bumped into my mum before I reached the main road!
