Governors

Deborah Streatfield, Chair of Governors 
Academic Committee 

Deborah began her career teaching in secondary schools. Subsequently she moved into outplacement. Further work with HMP Bronzefield, alongside working with the homeless, instilled the idea of a Charity; MyBigCareer was launched in 2013. Sponsorstars was set up in 2017, sponsoring children facing poverty in the UK. In 2021, Deborah launched The Careers Office. Additionally, she is Governor of St Mary’s University.

Throughout her 40 year career, Deborah has juggled the demands of six children. She passionately believes that every student should be treated with patience, care and empathy as if they were her own son and daughter and with a promise of conveying the same drive and ambition.

Christopher Bates, Independent Governor
Academic Committee 

Chris Bates joined the Board of Governors in June 2022.  He holds an MA in Educational Leadership and Management and is currently a Housemaster, Medical Careers Coordinator and Biology teacher at Epsom College. Chris is a firm proponent of a whole student approach to education, witnessing good practice whilst working at several top independent schools in the region.  With a passion for sport and adventure, Chris has led numerous student expeditions, including to Kilimanjaro and Everest Base Camp. 

Kate Hopper-Reeve, Parent Governor 

Kate Hopper-Reeve joined the Board of Governors as Parent Governor in June 2022, her son joined Willington School in reception and is currently in Year 4.  Kate has a long-standing career in Public Relations (as Kate Hopper) and is Managing Director of the consumer sector within a global PR consultancy.        

Suzanne Le Jeune, Independent Governor
Finance & General Purpose Committee

 

Suzanne joined the Board in 2023 and sits on the Finance and General Purpose Committee. Suzanne is a chartered accountant and a chartered management consultant and has worked in finance transformation for over 25 years.  Suzanne has lived in Wimbledon for 23 years and was a proud to be a Willington parent until 2019.

Ed Mills, Independent Governor 

Ed Mills joined the Board of Governors in January 2021.  Whilst not a Willington parent, Ed has four children (two sets of twins) currently attending South London schools.  Ed qualified as a solicitor in 2001, specialising in employment law, and he is currently Head of the Employment and Business Immigration group at City law firm, Travers Smith LLP.

Katy Morgan, Independent Governor
Pastoral & Safeguarding Committee
Safeguarding Governor 

Katy Morgan is the Head of Lower School at St John's School, Northwood. She qualified as a teacher in 1993, specialising in primary education. She is currently leading a large department caring for pupils from Nursery to Year 4. She joined the Board of Governors in June 2022.

Faith Pengelly, Independent Governor
Finance & General Purpose Committee 

Faith joined the Board in 2023 and sits on the Finance and General Purpose Committee.
Faith has an MBA from Henley Management College. She has a background in financial
services/corporate finance and has over 25 years’ experience working as a qualified
Company Secretary. Faith has lived in the Wimbledon area for over 35 years.

Rhys Tomlin, Independent Governor
Compliance and Health & Safety Committee
 

Rhys has been the site manager at King's College, Wimbledon for over seventeen years. He joined the Board in June 2022 and sits on the Compliance and Health & Safety Committee

Ian White, Independent Governor
Pastoral & Safeguarding Committee 

Ian White joined the Board of Governors in July 2022.  Having previously taught at Tiffin School and St George’s College, Weybridge, Ian is currently Deputy Head (Co-Curricular and Logistics) at St John’s School, Leatherhead where he has also previously held the roles of Assistant Head (Upper School), Head of Department, Head of Lower School and Housemaster of a Senior Boys’ House.

Ian was educated locally at Wallington County Grammar School and graduated with a Sports and Exercise Science degree from the University of Portsmouth and a Masters in Educational Leadership and Management from the University of Bath. Additionally he holds a Level 3 Designated Safeguarding Lead (NSPCC) and Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) qualification.

Ian is married to Helen, also a teacher, and they have two young boys, as well as an energetic Cocker Spaniel called Reggie, which keeps them busy when not in the classroom.

Ian brings a wide knowledge of educational and pastoral matters to the Board and sits on the Pastoral and Safeguarding Committee.
